This pattern was originally made
for my niece Bethany.
Materials: Crochet Hook Size I (5.50)
Bernat Cot'n Soft 4.5 ounces (127.5 grams)
or any worsted weight cotton yarn.
Bernat Cot'n Soft lemon/lime sherbet
was used for model.
Abbreviations: SC single crochet
DC double crochet
FPDC front post double crochet
BPDC back post double crochet
Row 1
Chain 38, DC in 4th chain from hook and in each chain across (36 stitches).
Chain 3, turn.
Row 2
FPDC in next 2 stitches. BPDC in next 3 stitches. (FPDC in each of next 3
stitches, BPDC in each of next 3 stitches) across. Chain 3, turn.
Row 3 - Row 20
Repeat Row 2.
Row 21 (neck shaping)
FPDC in next 2 stitches. BPDC in next 3 stitches. FPDC in next 3 stitches. BPDC
in next three stitches. Leave remaining stitches unworked. Chain 3, turn.
Row 22-24
FPDC in next 2 stitches. BPDC in next 3 stitches. FPDC in next 3 stitches. BPDC
in next 3 stitches. Chain 3, turn. At the end of row 24, do not chain 3. Finish
off work.
Shaping of second side of neck:
Row 21
Attach yarn with slip sitch on outside neck edge at top of end stitch from row
20. Chain 3. FPDC in next 2 stitches. BPDC in next 3 stitches. FPDC in next 3
stitches. BPDC in 3 stitches. Leave remaining stitches unworked.
Work as row 22-24 of other side of neck, but at the end of row 24 do NOT finish
off. Chain 1, turn.
EDGING:
SC in each stitch of last side of neck of row 24. 3 sc on top of last DC of
previous row for corner. Continuing down side of bib, 2 SC in side of each DC
row. Working in unused loops of beginning chain, 3 SC in first chain, 1 SC in
each chain across to last chain, 3 SC in last chain. Continuing up other side of
bib, 2 SC in side of each DC row. Working on top of neck, 3 SC in first DC, sc
in each stitch across to last stitch at neck edge, 3 SC in last stitch. Working
in side of neck, 2 SC in side of each of the 4 rows of neck edge, SC in each of
the unused stitches of row 20, 2 SC in edge of each DC on side of neck. 2 SC in
same stitch as fist SC of edging, slip stitch to first SC of edging. Do NOT
finish off.
TIES:
Chain 60. Slip sitch in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across. Slip
stitch to last SC of edging. Finish off.
For second tie, join yarn with slip stitch in center chain 3 on other side of
neck. Chain 60, slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across.
Join with slip stitch to first slip stitch. Finish off.
